As a slew of Internet companies have started creating their own content, Yahoo is also getting in the game.

The Web pioneer announced today that it is working on a social media talk show called #HashOut with some big-hitter names like Arnold Schwarzenegger's ex-wife and journalist Maria Shriver, Princeton professor Anne-Marie Slaughter, "Lost" co-creator Damon Lindelof, and more.

Yahoo is deeming the show as "a new way to talk about the news," and says that it is also "the first talk show conducted over social media."

Besides the people listed above, other guests participating in the show -- aka "the #hashout panel" -- include celebrated author Gary Shteyngart, Jezebel founder Anna Holmes, and comedian Baratunde Thurston.

Video streaming and e-commerce companies, like Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu, have also been reportedly exploring their own content creation over the past year, heating up competition with traditional cable TV networks. Rumor has it that even Twitter is readying for its own reality TV show.

For #HashOut, Yahoo is inviting potential viewers to enter their e-mail to be alerted when the talk show goes live. It's unclear when the show will air, but more details are supposedly forthcoming.

CNET contacted Yahoo for more information. We'll update the story when we hear back.
