Will Tony Soprano whack Napster?

In a series of short parody cartoons based on the HBO show "The Sopranos," fictional Warner Bros. executives commission the mafia to hunt down Napster. But why?

"Napster is taking the food out of Sinatra's kids' mouths," Warner Bros. executives say in the first cartoon.

Created by Pennsylvania-based Camp Chaos, the show "The Sopranos vs. Napster" features nine minute-long Flash animations that can be downloaded from the Camp Chaos Web site. The first two episodes were released today; more episodes are scheduled to appear every Monday for the next seven weeks.

"We wanted to make them almost like chapter plays--almost exceptionally short--where we leave people wanting for more," said Camp Chaos founder and president Bob Cesca, who is also the director, co-writer, producer and primary voice-actor for the series.

Cesca said the animated shorts, which feature Frank Sinatra songs, were created initially for a Warner Bros. convention. He said Warner Bros. learned about Camp Chaos from an earlier parody series, "Napster Bad," in which Napster took aim at Metallica's Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield.

Metallica sued Napster over alleged copyright infringement and asked the service to remove a list of some 335,000 usernames that belonged to people it said had downloaded copies of their songs.

Camp Chaos is an independent, self-financed company, according to Cesca.
