Tweetbot 3 for iPhone gets redesigned and a rise in price

Drawing from iOS 7's new design with rainbow colors and jumpy icons, the Twitter client app revamps its look and hikes up its price to $2.99.

Tweetbot, one of the top Twitter client apps for iPhone, released a major redesign on Thursday that is wholly inspired by Apple's iOS 7.

With the same bright colors, flat planes, and animated icons, Tweetbot 3 looks and feels very different from its earlier versions. Tapbots, the company behind the app, said it redesigned Tweetbot "from the ground up" for Apple's newest operating system.

"Tweetbot has slimmed down to look and feel more like iOS 7 and has also gained a lot of charm and speed in the process," Tapbots wrote in the app description.

Apparently, Tapbots put a lot of work into the refreshed app, and it's charging users for this labor. Instead of $1.99, the app now costs $2.99. Existing users also have to pay this price for an upgrade -- they could also just opt to stay with the older version. Tapbots notes that the $2.99 price is a "limited time" sale, which means the cost could hike up even higher.

With the redesign, Tapbots held onto or amped up users' favorite features, such as image upload, iCloud sync, mute filters for blocking messages from users without unfollowing them, customizable navigation, and Wi-Fi streaming.

Tweetbot was created by Tapbots to give users an alternative to Twitter's official mobile app and other Twitter mobile clients. This newest redesign is specifically for iPhone, but Tapbots is reportedly working on an update for Tweetbot for iPad too.
