Cable TV programmer TechTV says Chairman and Chief Executive Larry Wangberg will resign after nearly five years with the company. After finding a replacement, Wangberg plans to pursue other interests while remaining on the company's board of directors.
The cable network and Web site, owned by Vulcan Ventures, Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen's investment firm, shed about a quarter of its staff in November because of the weakened demand for advertising. The company also underwent a shift in ownership during Wangberg's tenure when Vulcan bought TechTV from its founder, Ziff-Davis, in January 2000. TechTV distributes technology news, entertainment, product reviews and updates on tech stocks to about 30 million homes in 70 countries through its TV programming.
