Streaming provider taps former AOL exec

Generic Media, a Palo Alto, Calif.-based company that hosts streaming services, says it has appointed a former America Online executive as its new chief executive. James Martin, formerly senior vice president and divisional general manager at AOL, replaces Peter Hoddie, CEO of Generic Media. Hoddie will take the post of president and oversee the company's strategy and development initiatives. As CEO, Martin will oversee operations. Generic Media said Martin has also been appointed to its board of directors. The company is backed by investors including Softbank Venture Capital, Sony and NTT Leasing.
