Sun Microsystems announced that China Internet (CIC) chose its technology to build the country's Internet backbone. The Daily Spectrum, an industry newsletter, reported CIC will purchase $15 million worth of Sun computers, equipment, and interactive network computing technology for its Chinese Internet-intranet network. According to Sun, CIC was developed in order to employ the latest Internet technology to create a reliable and secure national intranet, the China Wide Web.
