Short Take: Knight Ridder enters classifieds alliance

Knight Ridder, which publishes 31 daily newspapers, is joining forces with three other newspaper chains that put classified ads for cars at Cars.com and homes at Home Hunter on the Net. The companies, which also include the Times Mirror Company, the Tribune Company, and the Washington Post Company, said they are using their alliance to develop the "deepest and broadest" sites in the competitive categories.
