The
has extended until Friday the deadline for the public to comment on a
proposal to charge Internet access fees to Internet service providers.
Some Baby Bells are lobbying for the fees to help pay for upgrades to
their network and ease Net gridlock. An FCC spokeswoman said the agency
has received more than 80,000 emails on the plan, including many "no
votes" from a form letter circulating around the Net, and the flood
temporarily caused a server to go out last week. As reported, the FCC
is expected to turn down the proposal.
