Short Take: EU OKs Compaq acquisition

The European Commission (EU) has OK'd U.S. computer giant acquisition of Tandem Computers. Tandem is a U.S. supplier of highly specialized computer processing systems for operations in banks, stock exchanges, and telecommunications. An EU executive said the "overlaps between the two companies' activities...were not such as to give rise to competition concerns."
