Online entertainment company LivePlanet, founded by actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck as well as two Hollywood producers, has received $12 million in its first round of venture funding from Redpoint Ventures and Accel Partners. Los Angeles-based LivePlanet develops entertainment programs that combine the Net and television. One such program is Project Greenlight, a screenplay contest that will result in an entry being made into a motion picture and HBO TV documentary series.
