Ask Jeeves, General Magic and Nuance said they are collaborating on software that businesses can use to answer commonly asked questions over the telephone. Ask Jeeves will market the resulting application in the first quarter of next year. Ask Jeeves already offers a text database of questions and answers and creates specialized query engines for corporations. Nuance provides speech recognition software, and General Magic develops and hosts voice-operated Internet and phone applications.
