Short Take: AOL to refund customers

AOL is in hot water with subscribers again. The problem, which netted some new customers hundreds of dollars in service charges, appears to have been caused by a glitch in new Packard Bell computers, according to a report by the Sacramento Bee. Software that came installed on the computers automatically connected users to an AOL phone line that costs $6 an hour instead of connecting them to a toll-free phone number. AOL has promised to refund affected customers.
