New Online Service Offers Free Trial

The Competitive Telecommunications Association has announced a free monthly trial for an online service that will focus on the telecommunications industry. Free trials of CompTel Online will be available to CompTel members and and nonmembers next month. Beginning in January, the cost will be $45 per month.

CompTel Online will provide users with information from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Daily Digest featuring news releases, speeches, and access to telecommunications news from Comtex newswire.

Officials from the Federal Network, which designed the service for CompTel, say the service is not mainstream and claim that is what will set it apart from other online services. "We can give subscribers more information than any of those services combined," said Chuck Fazio, vice president of the Federal Network. "The goal is not to make it another America Online, the goal is to make it accessible to anyone who has an interest in telecommunications," he said.
