Sizzler comes in two parts: a viewer that plugs into Netscape Navigator 2.0 or higher, Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0, or Apple Cyberdog, and a converter that transforms Windows and Macintosh sound and animation files into files that can be played over the Internet.
With the converter, Web designers can stream WAVE sound files, AVI, and Windows bitmap animation files to Windows 3.1, 95 and NT users. Sizzler also converts standard sound files, and QuickTime movies, as well as PICS files and Java applets for the Macintosh 68K and PowerPC platforms.
Sizzler streams animation and audio in one file for easier downloading. It can also convert files into ActiveX, Java, and LiveObjects format (formerly OpenDoc).
The Mac-compatible converter also features a preview window for authors who want to see how long an animation will take to stream on a given page.
The Sizzler converter and viewer are available as a free download from Totally Hip's Web site.
