Netflix's 'Making a Murderer'

Netflix

Netflix said Tuesday that the creators of its true-crime documentary series "Making a Murderer" are producing new episodes for the streaming service.

The new installments will continue to explore the defense of convicted murderer Steven Avery and his co-defendant, Brendan Dassey. The shows will follow their respective investigative and legal teams as they challenge their convictions.

"We are extremely grateful for the tremendous response to, and support of, the series. The viewers' interest and attention has ensured that the story is not over, and we are fully committed to continuing to document events as they unfold," said the show's creators, Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos, in a statement.

The 10-episode series, released in December, sparked widespread public condemnation of the Avery and Dassey cases. Petitions with thousands of signatures sought presidential pardon of Avery's conviction for the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach.
