Mark Zuckerberg eats only animals he's killed himself

Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg only eats animals he personally has killed, as part of a new personal project. He's already killed a pig, a goat and a chicken.

You read that right -- Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg only eats animals he has personally killed, as part of a new personal project.

"The only meat I'm eating is from animals I've killed myself," says the 27-year-old entrepreneur, whose terrifying challenging new dietary habits came to light in a status post on his Facebook wall that read, "I just killed a pig and a goat."

Speaking to Fortune, M-Zuck spoke of how he'd taken to killing goats, pigs and chickens. "I'm eating a lot healthier foods. And I've learned a lot about sustainable farming and raising of animals.

"It's easy to take the food we eat for granted when we can eat good things every day."

Zuckerberg's first kill -- you never forget your first -- was a lobster, which he boiled alive. Next on the block was a chicken. The $13.5bn-valued social media baron says he's interested in going hunting.

Fortune reports that Silicon Valley chef Jesse Cool has introduced Mark to farmers who live close to his home in Palo Alto, who are teaching him the ropes of the ancient art of animal slaughter. "He cut the throat of the goat with a knife, which is the most kind way to do it," Cool said.

We imagine he cradled it tenderly in his skinny arms, calmly shushing the animal as its lifeblood drained into the rich Californian soil.

Zuckerberg posted a photo of a chicken he killed to Facebook, along with details of the recipes he whipped up from it. "This year I've basically become vegetarian since the only meat I'm eating is from animals I've killed myself," he says.

We admire his gumption in facing up to the grisly fact that animals have to die in order to feed meat-eaters. We just hope he's not turned to dispatching wildlife because the cut-throat world of billion-dollar business is no longer thrilling enough.

Zuckerberg undertakes a new "challenge" each year. In 2009 he wore a tie every day. Last year he resolved to learn Chinese. Now he kills animals. Feel free to speculate as to what next year's Zuckerchallenge will be in the comments, or on our Facebook page.

Remember: you don't get to 500 million friends without slaughtering a few animals.
