Manugistics, Sun team on software

The business software maker says it's partnering with Sun Microsystems to launch a Web-based collaborative application for manufacturers that build high-tech products.

Business software maker Manugistics on Monday announced it is teaming with Sun Microsystems to launch a Web-based collaborative application for manufacturers that build high-tech products.

The Web-based application is designed to handle the challenges facing companies and their partners in the aerospace and defense, automotive, industrial and medical devices industries that must share business processes and data across and within their networks.

Manugistics said the application works best on Sun hardware and its Solaris operating system. Manugistics said the product allows collaborating companies to manage supply and demand, sales and operations planning processes, and supply planning processes.

The Web-based application is available now. A Sun representative declined to disclose pricing information.
