LicenseMusic.com, which licenses music for film and TV production, advertising, and video games, says it has launched a business-to-business music subscription service for professionals in the audio-visual production industries. The service, dubbed Clip, will offer customers free downloading and access to its library of online music for sourcing and licensing pre-cleared original recordings, which include more than 23,000 tracks. San Francisco-based LicenseMusic said its catalog of music will expand to more than 100,000 tracks by the end of the year. Professionals such as creative directors, music supervisors and interactive designers will be able to order custom-designed music packages. The cost, according to the company, will depend upon the number of tracks and the type of license that is required.
Founded in 1997, LicenseMusic's content providers include companies such as Sony/ATV Music Publishing and BMG Music Publishing. Two years ago, digital imaging giant Getty Images took a 10 percent stake in LicenseMusic.com.
