Eastman Kodak is expected to announce next week that it is working with Microsoft on a new technology that would speed the editing and transmission of pictures by computer, according to a report in today's Wall Street Journal.
Called Nifty, the new process will be aimed at consumers frustrated with the long delays inherent in current imaging systems.
The new technology is a file format that allows computers to interpret image data. It will allow users to alter and transmit images via the Internet and online services. Microsoft is also expected to announce a software application to use the format, according to the report.
