Jabber gives away IM software

Webb Interactive Services subsidiary Jabber has launched Jabber Everywhere, a program that lets software developers download a version of its instant-messaging software, the Jabber Communications Platform, for free. The free offer is good for implementations serving up to 100 registered users. Jabber's commercial product is based on the work of open-source group Jabber.org, whose code is available for free and licensed use. But Jabber Everywhere marks the first time the company is offering a free version of its own branded product. The idea is to increase Jabber's circulation among small and midsized organizations of 100 people and fewer and to let larger organizations try it out free of charge.
