Instagram Stories outage prevents photo uploads

Problem doesn't appear to affect images previously uploaded to the photo-sharing app's new Snapchat-like feature.

Instagram users prevented from uploading images.

Instagram experienced issues Monday that prevented users from uploading images to the photo-sharing app's new Stories feature.

Facebook-owned Instagram said in a tweet Monday afternoon it was aware of the problem and was working on a fix. The problem didn't appear to prevent users from viewing previously uploaded images.

Facebook, which bought Instagram for $1 billion five years ago, has been busy integrating features made popular by Snapchat into the photo-sharing app, and those efforts have paid off. The social-networking giant said in April it counted more than 200 million people using Instagram Stories, which lets people publish a series of photos and videos that disappear after 24 hours.

Instagram didn't immediately respond to a request for comment and additional information.
