Helping "Jerry's Kids"

CompuServe allows members to pledge donations over their modems.

CompuServe joined the Jerry Lewis "Stars Across America" Labor Day telethon by allowing its customers make donations using their computers.

For the third year, CompuServe members made donations to the Muscular Distrophy Association by entering the service's free area during the Labor Day weekend. Customers could also get information on the guests who participated in the telethon.

CompuServe's Web page also offered telethon information and a pledge area.

The 31st annual telethon, which was watched by an estimated 80 million viewers, aired nationally over Labor Day weekend.

During the first three hours and the last hour of the telethon, CompuServe's Fan Club Forum area hosted interviews with some of the celebrities participating in the charity event.
