Google Play Music adds podcasts to the mix

The streaming service will offer up podcasts based on what users are doing or interested in, similar to its contextual playlists for music.

Podcasts finally make their way to Google Play Music.

You like Google's Play Music but wish it could do podcasts, too? Well, it does now.

Starting Monday on Android devices in the US and Canada, the Play Music service will connect users to podcasts the way it does music, according to Google's Android blog. This mean users will be presented with podcasts based on what they are doing or interested in, similar to the contextual playlists for music.

Users can also manually look for podcasts they like and choose to have the new episodes downloaded automatically or be notified when a new episode is released. Together with this update, Google also added a new podcast portal for content creators who want to make their podcast available in Google Play Music.
