Microsoft Corporation officials said today that its Office for Windows 95 business application suite will hit store shelves on August 24, the same day as Windows 95.

And starting July 15, consumers itching to buy Office 95 can reserve the software through their resellers, guaranteeing them a copy as soon as it's available. Dubbed the "Coming Soon" program, consumers who preorder will not have to pay until Office actually arrives.

The Standard Edition of Office will include Excel 95, Word 95, PowerPoint, and Schedule+ 95. A Professional Edition will come with Microsoft Access, a desktop database. Access 95 will be available about two months after Microsoft Office, officials say.

First-time buyers will pay $499 for Microsoft Office 95. Existing users who wish to upgrade will pay $249 from July 15 through December 31. Pricing for the Professional Edition starts at $599.
