The recycle bin or trash can on your computer serves as a safety net for files that you may delete by accident. Retrieving them is easy; with just the click of a button, you can restore a file to its original location on your computer. However, if you're using a tablet as a complementary device to your computer, this file management feature is missing.

To keep your files from being completely deleted, check out Dumpster. You'll probably be able to get past the name once you see what this app can do. It works by catching files you would lose and hangs onto them like the recycle bin or trash can would. Files will be stored at full size, and you can keep them forever, manually delete, or schedule for the Dumpster to be emptied automatically.

Start by installing a copy of the app from this link.

The free version of this app is supported by ads, and the in-app upgrade to remove them is $2.99.

Please note: You cannot recover any files that were deleted before installing this app.

Next, choose which files will stay in Dumpster instead of being deleted.

To set the deletion time frame, tap Menu > Options, then adjust the slider.

If you have your time frame set to manual, you can clear out all files by tapping Menu and then picking Delete All.

When you want to restore a file: open the app, long-press the file, and choose Restore from the menu.

This app can be used as an additional protection against losing photos if you're often letting other people (or your children) use your Android device.
