Over the years, Facebook has redesigned its photo pages, lightbox and display options for images, given the popularity of photo sharing on the platform. The latest update makes photos from your Timeline spread across the page in a mosaic style, similar to the way Google+ does. The menu at the top of the page lets you filter by photos you're tagged in, pictures shared and albums created.

What's most interesting about the update is the ability to highlight certain photos. By clicking the star icon that appears when you're hovering over a photo, users can make certain photos stand out on the page. The changes are being rolled out to the desktop Facebook experience only — a spokesperson told Mashable that the mobile apps will not be upgraded.
