Facebook 'Look Back' video will soon be editable, report says

The notorious 'Look Back' videos currently can't be tweaked, but the technology is said to be incoming.

Unhappy with Facebook's portrayal of your time since joining the site? You may soon be able to tweak your 'Look Back' video to include different clips.

TechCrunch quotes a Facebook representative, who reportedly told the site, "We will be launching an Edit feature soon that will allow people to change moments in their movies or update the ones they shared."

It seems there's no confirmed date for the 'edit' feature to make an appearance, but the rep says it will "enable people to remove a post from the movie that was pre-selected and change it to a different one". TechCrunch also spied mention of editing features on Facebook's help pages, suggesting perhaps that the Look Back videos were supposed to be customisable at launch, but the feature wasn't ready yet.

The videos, which have been plaguing Facebook Feeds across the globe since Zuckerberg and pals introduced the feature, give you a one-minute photo summary of your life since you joined Facebook, incorporating wince-inducing early photos and your most-liked status updates.

The Look Back feature was launched to celebrate Facebook's 10-year anniversary, but could give a glimpse as to what the omnipresent site has planned for the future.

With short, editable clips potentially available to everyone in the near future, Facebook could be hoping to become first port-of-call for making celebratory videos of particular days, events, years or anniversaries.

Although Facebook boasts 1.23 billion users, the site is under threat from smaller social networks like Twitter, Instagram and SnapChat.
