The Facebook App Center has gone global. Facebook

Facebook this morning rolled out its App Center to all of its 955 million monthly active users around the world. The news didn't come from the usual Facebook press release or blog post, but ironically via a Facebook PR representative sending out a message on Twitter:

The Facebook App Center is now available to 100% of users worldwide. Your personalized & localized App Center here: https://www.facebook.com/appcenter

I contacted Facebook to make sure the launch was complete and whether there was something more official to reference beyond a tweet, and a representative confirmed the news and pointed me to a page on Facebook that features the above image and the following message:

The App Center is now available to people worldwide! Discover new and fun apps you can enjoy with friends today. https://www.facebook.com/appcenter

If you haven't used it yet, Facebook App Center is like the Apple App Store or the Google Play store, but for Facebook. Actually, it's more than that, since it's not just limited to Facebook apps: it includes all social apps that leverage Facebook.

When browsing the Facebook App Center, you'll see canvas, mobile, and Web apps. If it's just a Web app, you'll be able to use it right then and there. If you're on your Android or iOS device and find an app you want, however, you'll be able to click through and install it from the Apple App Store or Google Play store.

As one can expect, the Facebook App Center is social. It lets you check out what apps your Facebook friends have installed and rated.

As with any new Facebook feature, the App Center was being rolling out incrementally. Last month, the App Center arrived in Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the U.K., and the U.S. Last week, it was pushed out to Brazil, France, Germany, Russia, Spain, Taiwan, and Turkey. Now everyone in the world has access to it via the App Center bookmark on the left side of their Facebook.com home page and in the Facebook apps for Android and iOS.
