Digital Equipment today unveiled a
search engine called Alta Vista. The "super spider" software used to create
the engine allows users to search through news groups and the Web with
compacted or detailed results, according to Digital officials.
The company claims that Alta Vista will search at speeds up to 100 times faster than other services such as Yahoo and Lycos.
Alta Vista is currently available for testing.
