Cyrix slashes prices on desktops

Cyrix announced today that it is dropping prices on its P200 series desktop computers.

Prices start at $1,899 for a Cyrix 6x86-P150+ system with 16MB EDO DRAM, 1.6GB hard drive, 8x CD-ROM, 16-bit sound, and 15-inch monitor. Prices top out at $4,999 for a Cyrix 6x86-P200+ system with 32MB EDO DRAM, WRAM graphics, 4GB hard drive, 8x CD-ROM drive and 15-inch monitor. All systems come with a three-year warranty.

The company has gone into making computers to try and bolster demand for its processors but so far has not been able to garner a significant share of the desktop market.
