Barack Obama blasts Donald Trump on 'Mean Tweets'

The US president had a strong response to a Donald Trump tweet from August.

As the US presidential election rages on, President Barack Obama took the time to return to Jimmy Kimmel Live's beloved "Mean Tweets" on Tuesday night.

The segment has celebrities read out and respond to insults hurled at them on Twitter. Donald Trump, himself famous for mean tweets, eventually came up at the end of the two-minute clip.

"President Obama will go down as perhaps the worst president in the history of the United States!", Obama read, citing a Trump tweet from August.

"Well, @realDonaldTrump," the POTUS said reproachfully, "at least I will go down as a president." He then drops the mic, or in this case the iPhone, as is customary following such a sweet burn.

Obama, like 91 percent of his party, is of course backing Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
