Microsoft's chief executive, Steve Ballmer, is scheduled to meet with the antitrust head of the European Commission on Wednesday, according to a commission representative. Ballmer, who will be in Europe on business, requested the meeting with Neelie Kroes, who heads the competition bureau.
Though the topic of discussion was not specified, Microsoft is currently challenging a commission decision in the Court of First Instance. The commission last year ordered Microsoft to not only offer a version of its operating system without its media player bundled in but also to share some of its code with developers to improve interoperability between products.
