AT&T Unveils WebCall

AT&T has teamed up with Spanlink Communications to unveil software the companies claim will allow consumers to make transactions on phone lines via their PCs. The companies claim the software, dubbed WebCall, will ensure financial security over the Net.

AT&T will distribute the $15,000 software, developed by Spanlink, to businesses that sell merchandise on the Web. The companies declined to release the financial agreements.

Customers using WebCall can call companies over phone lines through their computers and give their credit card information securely, according to company officials.
