AOL names security chief

Media giant AOL Time Warner has named Larry L. Cockell as its chief security officer. He will oversee the company's worldwide security operations, reporting to Patricia Fili-Krushel, AOL Time Warner's head of human relations. Cockell will take on the newly created position Jan. 14. Before the appointment, Cockell was deputy director of the U.S. Secret Service and was a 20-year veteran of the agency. Cockell also worked eight years for the St. Louis Police Department.
