Andreessen joins board of Zend Technologies

Netscape co-founder Marc Andreessen and Jaman.com CEO Guarov Dhillon get behind Zend's PHP product line.

Zend Technologies expanded its board of directors with Netscape co-founder Marc Andreessen and Guarav Dhillon, who was founder and CEO of data integration software maker Informatica. Zend makes development tools for the open-source language PHP. Scripting languages, such as PHP and Python, are increasingly being used for Web application development, rather than Java or Microsoft languages.

Zend's product line is designed specifically to make PHP applications more industrial strength and suitable for business customers. The company has formed partnerships with IBM and Oracle to make it easier to build PHP applications that get data from IBM and Oracle databases, which are widely used with business customers. Andreessen serves as the chairman of Opsware, a company he founded that builds software to update server software. Dhillon left Informatica as CEO last year after 10 years as CEO. He is CEO and founder of Jaman.com.
