Amazon wants you (and your parents) to ditch Spotify

The company's streaming-music service now offers family plans in the US for $14.99 a month.

Sharing is caring, and Amazon hopes you care enough about its streaming-music service to share it with your family.

Amazon Music Unlimited, Amazon's response to streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music, is now available as a $14.99-a-month subscription for up to six people.

The service, which debuted in October with discounted pricing for Prime members and Echo-only plans, is available in the UK, Germany and Austria, but as of right now the family plan is US-only. Prime members also have the option to pay $149 for a one-year Family Plan.

Amazon's streaming service doesn't have as many exclusives as Apple Music, or as big of a music library as Spotify, but if you're a Prime member, it's a cheaper deal. The addition of a family plan, which is priced the same as many others, competitively increases its appeal in the crowded streaming scene.

Editors' note, November 16, 2016: Post was edited to add that Prime members can buy a one-year Amazon Music Unlimited membership and to clarify that the service is also available in Germany and Austria.
