Amazon nabs streaming rights to entire 'Veronica Mars' TV series

If you need to catch up with the plucky, crime-solving heroine -- before the movie comes out -- you can now watch all three seasons on Amazon.

"Veronica Mars" fans who want to brush up on the TV series before the movie comes out later this year can now do it online at Amazon.

The Internet retail giant announced Thursday that it has struck a deal with Warner Bros., making Prime Instant Video the exclusive online streaming home of the fan-favorite television series.

Brad Beale, director of digital video content acquisition for Amazon, said in a news release that the "Veronica Mars" series -- centered on a high school student who doubles as a private investigator -- has been a popular DVD and Amazon Instant Video item for years. Amazon hopes to capitalize on the upcoming "Veronica Mars" movie, a production paid for by the show's loyal fans.

"We are excited to become the exclusive subscription streaming home for 'Veronica Mars' and to be able to offer the entire TV series to Prime members to enjoy at no additional charge," he said in the statement. "With the movie coming on March 14, both die-hard fans and new viewers can easily catch-up on this great show."

The "Veronica Mars" movie make Kickstarter history last year when fans pledged $2 million in the first 10 hours of the campaign. In total, fans poured $5.7 million into the Kickstarter campaign to pay for the movie production.
