Alaska Airlines Sells Tickets Online

Alaska Airlines yesterday became the first domestic carrier to offer online ticket purchases. Other airlines are expected to follow suit.

Those who prefer to make their own airline reservations can now take the process one step further. Alaska Airlines yesterday became the first domestic carrier to offer online ticket purchases.

By accessing the Alaska Airlines Web site, travelers can get information on available fares and schedules, book their flights, and pay for their tickets.

Although other airlines such as American and Southwest offer flight and fare information online and some carriers allow online booking, Alaska is the first to make the jump to actual ticket purchases. Analysts expect other airlines to follow suit in '96.
