Opera Software and Answers.com announced a partnership Thursday in which the search engine will be integrated into the Opera browser and portal.

Under the agreement with GuruNet's Answers.com, Opera will feature Answers.com's content and services via a co-branded dropdown search toolbar on Opera. The added feature for Opera's browser and portal comes as the competitive landscape for browsers heats up with such entrants as Firefox.

"Answers.com is yet another feature that will set us apart, providing millions of Opera users with instant access to fast facts and reliable information," Carsten Fischer, Opera desktop product manager, said in a statement.

Answers.com content will also be directly integrated with Opera's portal, generating co-branded content pages based on people's queries. The companies will share revenue based on the number of people visiting the co-branded pages.

GuruNet, meanwhile, expects the partnership to lead to new people using its service and increased traffic in general, Jeff Cutler, GuruNet chief revenue officer, said in a statement.
