Xtera rakes in $110 million

Xtera, an optical equipment maker, raised $110 million for its second round of financing Monday. The Allen, Texas-based company has raised $133 million so far and is working on a line of equipment for fiber-optic networks called the Xtera eXpander, which increases the bandwidth a service provider can get from fiber lines at less cost per kilometer. The financing was lead by Rho Ventures and Star Ventures Management.
