White HTC Desire with Super LCD to hit Carphone Warehouse

The Carphone Warehouse is to exclusively stock a white version of the HTC Desire, with the white iPhone 4 still nowhere to be seen. Updates are also released for the Desire and Wildfire.

You should get the chance to own a white HTC Desire by Christmas, thanks to the Carphone Warehouse.

T3 got its hands on official pictures of the phone, which could possibly be released ahead of the still-delayed white iPhone 4. The white Desires will have Super LED displays, instead of AMOLED screens, which have been hit by supply delays.

The HTC Desire carries loads of features, a 5-megapixel camera and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. Indeed, our love for the Android smart phone is well documented.

Before you get too excited, wait and see what comes out of the HTC event being held in London on Wednesday 15 September. If recent rumours and leaks are to be believed, we should be getting an HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z very soon.

If you're keen on nabbing an HTC Desire free of charge, we're offering one for free on Vodafone. All you have to do is answer a simple question. This competition closes soon, so hurry!

HTC has also released software updates for the Desire and Wildfire smart phones, which it says offer new features and improved performance. The updates shouldn't delete any of your content, but HTC does recommend you back up your files first. It also said you should use a Wi-Fi connection to download the updates, as they are fairly large.

It's likely the updates will only be available to owners of unlocked phones, as software updates generally need testing by networks before they become available on locked handsets.

The new HTC Desire update, which has added multi-inbox Gmail support, is mainly for those who didn't upgrade Android 2.2 the first time around.

The HTC Wildfire (1.25.405.1) update is more significant. It carries enhanced support for dial-prompted Facebook status updates and increased support for Google services like Talk and Android Market. It also helps combine contacts from Outlook and other programs.

Does the white HTC Desire sound good? Or do the new, updated versions of it tickle your fancy?
