Vodafone 945 Android phone, plus 553 and 543, won't threaten wallets

Vodafone is already stocking up for Christmas with a second budget Android, a new own-brand social networking phone and a refresh of an old handset with Miss Sixty bling.

The Vodafone 945 follows in the footsteps of the Vodafone 845, a budget Android phone that offered a few good features for a cheaper than normal contract. The 945 (pictured above) is the second in this range, and will have Android 2.1, a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera and flash, Wi-Fi and 300MB of memory upgradable to 32GB with a microSD card. It's available in black or silver.

The 845 was available on contracts for £15 per month, so we're thinking this is how much the 945 will go for when it hits the shelves. Hopefully it'll be available on pay as you go too, so you're not tied in long-term. Rival network Orange's budget San Francisco Android phone is just £99, so we don't see why not.

Vodafone is also offering the Vodafone 553, a Qwerty slider phone with social-networking features and a 2.8-inch rotatable touchscreen. It allows you to access Facebook and whatnot straight from the home screen and has a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, an FM radio and a media player. You can also stick in a microSD card with up to 8GB of storage. We're not sure about pricing, but it probably won't worry your wallet too much.

Finally, Vodafone has tarted up its existing 543 handset, working with high-street brand Miss Sixty to design a series of customised covers and accessories. We're already familiar with its current range of migraine-inducing covers, but apart from that we're looking at a 2.4-inch touchscreen phone, running Opera Mini 5.0 for Web browsing.

We're pretty sure the 845 and 553 will make it to the UK, but we haven't been told when. The 543 is already here, but we don't know when the Miss Sixty goodies will start to be packaged with it.
