Universal Access to buy Sphera

Universal Access announced Monday that it has plans to acquire a large portion of the fiber-optic network belonging to Sphera Optical Networks, which filed for bankruptcy just hours before. Pending bankruptcy approval, Universal Access plans to integrate the assets, located in New York City, New Jersey, Washington, Los Angeles, Dallas and Chicago, into its own existing network, according to a Universal Access spokeswoman.
