Toy Story Creator Pixar Goes Public

Pixar, the company responsible for animating the hit Disney movie Toy Story, launched an initial public offering today of 6 million shares.

Originally the company planned to offer the stock at $13 per share, but the success of Toy Story, which last weekend grossed $39.1 million, prompted the company to adjust its asking price twice yesterday, first to $19 and then to $22.

Pixar opened today at 46, leaped up to 49 1/2, and by early afternoon dipped down to 38 3/4. Analysts have predicted the stock could settle at double by day's end.
