Tivoli helps security

IBM subsidiary Tivoli announces security management and help desk application modules for its network and systems products.

Tivoli Systems, an IBM (IBM) subsidiary, today announced security management and help desk application modules for the Tivoli Management Environment 10 network and systems management product.

The modules offer users custom application management capabilities when using OmniGuard from Axent Technologies, CyberSafe Challenger from CyberSafe, and HelpDesk from Vantive with TME 10. Administrators can manage these applications from the central TME 10 Enterprise Console.

HelpDesk is a comprehensive help desk suite while OmniGuard and Challenger provide network security to users.

Via the console, an administrator can provide automated software distribution, proactive event management with correlation, and automated response functionality, as well as automated administration of tasks such as setting up servers. The new modules include event adapters that collect, filter and forward information to the TME 10 Enterprise Console.

Tivoli/Plus modules for OmniGuard and CyberSafe Challenger are available now for $9,000 per administrative domain. A Tivoli/Plus module for Vantive is available for $9,000 per Vantive server.

Tivoli is also readying a module for fourth quarter release supporting Compuware's EcoTools, a set of application management utilities that can bring management and monitoring functions down to the desktop. The module will be priced at $9,000.
