Tech Stock Tumbles

Netscape and other Internet stocks took a hit today after Microsoft unveiled its Internet strategy at a conference in Redmond, Washington. Analysts say investors are worried that with Microsoft's reputation for dominating nearly every area of the computer industry it enters, its competition may fall behind.

Other stocks that lost big due to Microsoft's announcement today were Spyglass and Netcom On-Line Communications. Netscape went down 28 3/4 and closed at 132 1/2; Spyglass lost 8 3/4, closing at 101 1/4; and Netcom fell 7 1/2 to 56.
