The 4.5-inch Nokia Lumia 635 we were promised this summer has finally reared its vibrantly-colored head. T-Mobile and its sub-brand, MetroPCS, will both carry the 4G LTE-ready budget handset in July, and for under $170 without a contract.

T-Mobile customers can pick up the 635 for $0 down and for $7 a month for 24 months, for a total of $168, all in. Meanwhile, those who go with MetroPCS can pocket the handset for a promotional deal of $99. It isn't clear how long the deal will last or how much the Lumia 635 will cost after that, but it should be in the same ballpark as T-Mobile's price.

Just when the 635 will be available is a slightly more confusing matter. The 635 will pop up first on the Home Shopping Network, using T-Mobile's branded network. July 9 is the start date to remember if you'd like to buy the 635 from T-Mobile online. A week later, on July 16, you can pick up the phone in stores.

Select MetroPCS shops will start stocking the 635 on July 18, the same day that its customers will be able to buy the phone online.

The Nokia Lumia 635 is the LTE-ready variant of the globally-released Lumia 630, which CNET reviewed in full . Both handsets feature a 4.5-inch display, Windows Phone 8.1 with the Cortana personal assistant , a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, a 5-megapixel camera, and a range of color choices.
