The biggest news from Square Enix at E3 is that Final Fantasy XIII is being developed. The role-playing game will have three different versions: two for the PS3 and one for cell phones. Final Fantasy XIII for the PS3 will be a traditional FF-series role-playing game, while Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be a more action-oriented adventure. Final Fantasy Agito XIII will be released for cell phones, but few details are known.

The Wii is also getting attention from Square Enix. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Crystal Bearers as well as Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors will be coming to Nintendo's next-gen system, promising to be the most verbosely titled games on the Wii for some time.

The PS2 still has a great deal to look forward to from Square Enix. Final Fantasy XII is coming to the six-year-old system, along with several other games. Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus is an action-adventure focused on Vincent, the mysterious gunslinger of Final Fantasy VII. Valkyrie Profile II: Silmeria is a sequel to the cult role-playing game Valkyrie Profile. Finally, Dawn of Mana will offer more traditional fantasy adventuring for discerning fans of the Seiken Densetsu series.

Portable systems are getting some classic Square and Enix games, with a few changes. Valkyrie Profile Lenneth is a PSP remake of the original Valkyrie Profile but featuring additional content. Final Fantasy III for the DS is a completely overhauled, 3D-enhanced version of the original Final Fantasy III, the only Final Fantasy game to not yet hit the United States. Final Fantasy V and VI Advance bring the classic 16-bit RPGs to the Game Boy Advance, with new quests and dungeons to explore. Finally, the original Final Fantasy is coming to cell phones, proving that there's no platform too big or too small for someone to cast fire at a goblin.
