CheckPoint Software Technologies has partnered with Sybase to integrate its Check Point FireWall-1 network security software with Sybase's SQL Server database.
FireWall-1 is designed to protect private networks from unauthorized intrusion via the Internet. The company said support for SQL Server, as well as Sybase's Open Server application programming interface (API), can be added to FireWall-1 via the software's programmable inspect engine, which allows new support to be added to the firewall. Open Server allows other data sources to gain access via SQL Server applications.
The support will allow users to build intranet applications that permit users to access proprietary database information stored in SQL Server via the FireWall-1 network security software.
The FireWall-1 software runs on Microsoft Windows NT, Windows 95, and on Unix operating systems. It is priced from $4,990 for a version supporting up to 50 network nodes.
