Spyglass acquires Stonehand

Spyglass has acquired Stonehand, a private company that develops and licenses high-performance, embeddable-text formatting tools for application and system software developers.

Spyglass today announced that it has acquired Stonehand, a company that develops and licenses high-performance, embeddable-text formatting tools for application and system software developers.

The $9.5 million acquisition will allow Stonehand customers including Adobe Systems, Broderbund Software, and CompuServe to become Spyglass partners.

Officials said the deal will also open new markets for both companies in the financial, health-care, and government sectors by ensuring that confidential information can be delivered and received via the Web without alteration.
